Stock Video for Theme from the Summer of ’42

Stock Video is the term for video footage available on the Internet. The footage is mostly offered on specialized web sites, paid and sometimes for free. These websites make it easy to search for a particular subject, e.g. ”beach” or “sunset”. Although it might cost a bit, flying to Los Angeles to capture some aerial views of the city will most certainly drain your wallet.

Obviously you have a lot more choice if you are willing to pay, but even for free some very nice footage can be found. Sometimes a mention in the credits is required. As a kind of test project I wanted to make a music video containing only free stock video footage. To make it a bit more interesting and create music without the risk for a claim by YouTube I played the harmonica and recorded the song “The Summer Knows”. A fantastic soundtrack from the 1971 film “The Summer Of ’42”.

Videezy, free with a credit for the source
Coverr, completely free, mostly for backgrounds
Mazwai, a reference to the author

Only the summer knows…
